Dental Veneers in Boynton Beach, FL

What are Veneers?

Veneers are a cosmetic dental procedure in which a thin layer of porcelain or composite material is placed over the outside of the tooth.

What are Veneers used for?

They are used to improve aesthetics or help with tooth damage. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. Because of that, the direct technique is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique usually involves two appointments because the veneers are fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions are taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. The dental veneers are back from the laboratory after two or three weeks. The temporaries are removed, and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory-fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are aesthetically pleasing.

Benefit of Veneers

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less of the tooth material has to be removed, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable.

Veneers are also exceptionally easy to take care of. Due to them being made of high-quality porcelain, they are not susceptible to the same discoloration and staining as normal teeth. Veneers reflect natural light just as a natural tooth would. Veneers are tremendously durable and can be treated and taken care of just as you would your normal teeth.

Other cosmetic issues, such as gaps in teeth, crooked or misshapen teeth, and discoloration can also be resolved by dental veneers.

How Long Does it Take to get Dental Veneers?

Typically, dental veneers take 2 appointments. The first appointment we will take impressions and get your exact measurements and provide you with a temporary tooth. During the second visit, using extremely durable adhesive, your porcelain dental veneer will be bonded to the teeth.
